Huron Township Applefest
Come Join Us October 2nd & 3rd 2010!

Huron Applefest Main Office

I want to welcome all of you to the 2010 Apple Festival. The Applefest Committee has been meeting throughout the year to make the 2010 Apple Festival fun for everyone. The common goal for our volunteers is to put on a community wide event that will showcase the friendly spirit that exists within our community. In the era of “staycations” (stay home vacations) we know you will find your visit to 31rst Annual Applefest worthwhile.

Applefest volunteers work endless hours throughout the year to bring the Applefest event forward. The township residents also catch the fever in the fall and begin sprucing up the town. We welcome our out of town guests and thank you for choosing to participate. I know your visit will be a worthwhile family outing.

Please allow me to thank those who have devoted countless hours of time to put on the 2009 Apple festival. I also encourage you to thank them when you see them diligently at work this weekend (we will be wearing the red short sleeve shirts, rain coats or snowsuits!)

Aaron Vincent for his continued involvement. Vicky and Dave Mathewson, Fred, Fred Jr.  and Cookie Giovannoni for their work with organizing the food vendors. Carol Allmon takes care of our craft booths. John and Cheryl Whitmore who help no matter what the job may be. Apple Annie (Alice Sheets).  Jim Harrington, Ed Tupacz’s grandson, continues to be a great help with advertising, technology and entertainment.

A special thanks to Peter Glaab (one of the Applefest founding fathers) for his continued support for Apple Festival. Each year Pete allows us the use his property in town for whatever need we have.

I must also recognize the tremendous cooperation of our local businesses community and residents along Main Street. Each Applefest they have to change their normal way of doing things over the weekend. Our hats off to you!

Thanks to the Huron Township Police, Huron Township Police Explorers, the Huron Township Fire Department, Miller PTO, St. Johns, St. Stephen’s, The Huron Sportsman Club, The Huron Township Rotary, Huron High School, The Boys Scouts, and The Girls Scouts are just a few of the organizations that look forward to participating in the Apple Festival every year.

Finally, I want to thank the Huron Township Board for allowing the show to go on. With their support and cooperation, our non-profit organizations are able to fund their programs. Applefest provides a financial “shot in the arm” for their budgets.

Please forgive me if I have failed to mention someone. I appreciate everyone who contributes to the Apple festival. A kind word about what we do is always appreciated.

I want to express our deepest sympathy to the TUPACZ FAMILY who lost their father February 7, 2010. Ed was and his family operated Tupacz Orchard a long standing apple Orchard in our community. Ed will be missed by all of us involved with Applefest. The obligatory “apple supply update” he gave at every meeting will be missed as well.

Enjoy Applefest 2010!
